There is $13,731,000 available to compensate protestors
arrested in NYC #BlackLivesMatter protests in May-June 2020.
People who were arrested at one of the following protest locations
may be eligible for a $9,950.00 settlement claim in
the class action litigation Sow v. City of New York:
The Sow v. City of New York settlement only includes claims for people who were arrested by the NYPD, and eligibility depends on location and date of arrest and the charges brought. For full details on eligibility and to submit a claim, visit the Class Action Administration website at https://www.nyc2020protestsettlement.com and review the "Settlement Documents" tab.
ALL CLAIMS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY DECEMBER 22, 2023 TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PAYMENT.
If you were treated roughly by the police but not arrested, or arrested at a different protest since May 28, 2020, you may still have options to bring an individual claim against the City. To consult with an attorney about your rights in this area, including filing a claim, please contact the NLG-NYC Civil Litigation Task Force at nyccivilrights@nlg.org.
