UU is hosting its monthly assembly meeting, always schedule for the third Thursday, on March 17, 2022 from 3PM to 5PM.
Our meeting will be hydrid, meaning attendees can participate online or in person.
To join us remotely by using the video-conferencing app Zoom, follow the link Vocal-NY.Com/UUMembers and click on the Zoom URL that appears. Your device should take you to the Zoom website or the app, depending on whether you've downloaded the latter from your app store.
To join in-person, arrive at 2:45PM to The LGBT Center, located at 408 W 13th St, so we can ensure a timely start. When you walk in, look for a sign that has the room numbers for meetings. If you have any trouble, speak with someone at their front desk or call Sessi (UU's organizer) at 347-715-8251. Unfortunately, room numbers are assigned by The Center on the day of the meeting, so we can't tell you ahead of time.
Founded in 2007, VOCAL-NY's Users Union (UU) is a grassroots activist group led by & for New Yorkers who use or used criminalized drugs.
By organizing, mobilizing, and empowering low-income New Yorkers directly impacted by violent public policies, the UU strives to achieve its 2022 legislative priorities:
- Legalizing overdose prevention centers (OPCs)––safe, community-based organizations proven to save and improve lives by providing a clean, comfortable space to use pre-acuired drugs without the fear of arrest or fatal overdose, as medically-trained staff are present to immediately respond; and
- Decriminalizing addiction medication, specificlally buprenorphine, the gold-standard for supporting people in managing their opioid use.
