04.21.22 Users Union Assembly

Registration is closed for this event
Join the UU for a monthly meeting that brings together new & veteran members to learn about how we can together end the racist, classist War on Drugs & the overdose crisis created by a criminalized supply that prioritizes profit over people.

Founded in 2007, VOCAL-NY's Users Union (UU) is a grassroots activist group led by & for New Yorkers who use or used criminalized drugs. By organizing, mobilizing, and empowering low-income New Yorkers directly impacted by violent public policies, the UU strives to achieve its 2022 legislative priorities. Number one is the state-wide legalization of overdose prevention centers (OPCs)––safe, community-based organizations proven to save and improve lives by providing a clean, comfortable space to use pre-acuired drugs without the fear of arrest or fatal overdose, as medically-trained staff are present to immediately respond.  Just as importantly is the goal of ending the biased decriminalization of addiction medication, specificlally buprenorphine, the gold-standard for supporting people in managing their opioid use.
